Shiza Ice and Cold Storage is located at Azad Chowk in the Harmu Bazar area of Ranchi. We are based out of Basant Kumar Dey’s property. If you’ve ever been to Harmu Bazar, you know how busy it gets, especially in the mornings when everyone is getting their vegetables and supplies. Our business is pretty straightforward; we make ice and provide cold storage for people who need it. It’s not the most glamorous job, but it’s necessary, especially with the heat we get in Jharkhand during the summer months. The machines are loud and the floor is usually wet, so it’s not exactly a corporate office environment. We spend most of our time making sure the compressors are running right and the insulation is holding up. We serve a lot of the local vendors and people who need to keep their goods from spoiling. Basant Kumar Dey has been around for a long time, and the business runs from his place. We don’t have a marketing team or a fancy logo. People just know us as the ice place near Azad Chowk. It’s hard work, and the electricity bills are always a headache, but we keep going day after day. Sometimes we have a bit of a backlog and folks have to wait, but that is part of the business. It’s just a local operation trying to keep things cool in a hot city.
