Our office is situated in the Ratanlal Complex on Ratu Road, which is one of the busiest streets in Ranchi. We are up on the second floor in room 208. The stairs can be a real pain if you are carrying heavy files, but the view of the traffic from the balcony is something else. PAYASI BUILDCON PRIVATE LIMITED has been operating from this small suite for a while now. The room is usually a bit of a mess with blueprints spread out everywhere and half-empty tea cups on the tables. It is just three or four of us handling everything. We don't have a receptionist, so if the phone rings, whoever is closest picks it up. Ratu Road is always under some kind of construction or caught in a traffic jam, so we hear a lot of honking all day long. It can be distracting, but it reminds us that the city is moving. We spend a lot of time on our mobile phones talking to contractors and material suppliers. Sometimes the cement doesn't show up on time and we have to scramble to find another source. It is a lot of stress, but seeing a building actually take shape makes it worth it. We aren't looking to become a giant corporation. We just want to keep the office running and do good work for the people who hire us. If you’re in the area, the entrance is next to the big clothing shop.
