Hotel Capitol Hill

You can find us at Hotel Capitol Hill, right on the Main Road here in Ranchi. Being in Jharkhand means the weather changes a lot, and we see it all from our spot. The address is 834001, which is pretty much the heart of everything around here. We spend our days checking folks in and out and making sure the laundry gets done on time. It’s a busy building with people constantly coming through the front doors. We don't have a lot of time for sitting around. Usually, there is a light bulb that needs changing or someone looking for a towel. The noise from the Main Road is always there, but after you work here for a while, it just sounds like background music. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big words. We just want to make sure the beds are made and the floors are swept. A few of us have been working here since we were much younger. We’ve seen the city change quite a bit from our front steps. Some days the lobby is full of families and other days it’s just a few quiet workers. We take it as it comes. It’s a decent place to work, even when the rain is pouring down outside and everyone is tracking mud in. We just grab a mop and keep going until the shift is over. That is how we do things every single day.
