Hotel Capitol

Hotel Capitol sits right on Devi Mandap Road in the Suryapuri area of Ranchi. We have been here for a bit now, and the neighborhood knows us well. It is a busy street, especially in the mornings when everyone is heading to work or the market. Our building isn't hard to find if you are coming from the P.O-Hehal side. Inside, it is usually a mix of travelers who are just passing through Jharkhand and people here for local weddings. The lobby is simple and we keep a register on the desk where we write down names by hand. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to switch the lights over, but that is just how things are in this part of town. The staff here mostly lives nearby, so we know all the good places to eat or where to get a rickshaw quickly. We spend our afternoons making sure the rooms are tidy and the water is running right. It gets quite loud outside with the traffic, but once you close the windows, it settles down. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who take turns watching the door and helping guests with their bags. It is a plain place to stay, but we make sure the beds are clean and there is enough tea to go around for everyone who asks.
