Our office is in Ranchi, located in the Manitola area of Gaus Nagar. Even though the name sounds like it belongs in Bihar, we are right here in Jharkhand. We are in the Doranda locality, which is always bustling with people. Our building is a simple one, and it gets quite busy during the day. People come to see us about all sorts of things related to the board and the local administrative tasks. We have a lot of wooden desks and metal cupboards filled with files that go back many years. The fans hum on the ceiling and there is usually a queue of people waiting by the window. We try to get through the papers as fast as we can, but there is always more to do. The area around Ranchi-2 is full of small shops and tea stalls, so we usually go out for a quick snack in the afternoon. It’s not a fancy office with glass partitions. It’s a place with stained walls and a lot of history. We’ve been working out of this spot in Gaus Nagar for a long time. The street outside can get muddy when it rains, and we have to wipe our feet before coming in. It’s a very normal, everyday kind of place. We don't use any complicated language. We just tell people what they need to bring and which form they need to fill out. It’s just how things work here in Doranda.
