Vir Eklavya High School

Vir Eklavya High School is situated in Dasada, which is in the Surendra Nagar district of Gujarat. Our pincode is 382750. This is a bit of a rural area, so the school is a very important part of the local community here. We have a high school setup, meaning we see the older kids who are getting ready to finish their basic education. The building is spread out, and we have a lot of open ground around us. Sometimes cows or goats from the nearby houses wander near the fence, which the kids find funny. It gets very dry and dusty during the summer months, and we spend a lot of time sweeping the floors to keep the classrooms clean. We have a few fans in each room, but they don't always help when the sun is really strong. The teachers here work hard to make sure everyone stays on track with their lessons. Most of the students come from farming families, so they are used to hard work. We don't have a lot of extra money for decorations or new furniture, so we make do with what we have. It’s a very simple life here in Dasada. The school is just a place where kids can come to read and write and hang out with their friends for a few hours every day. When the final bell rings, the yard fills up with students rushing out to head back to their villages. It’s a good, honest place to be.
