Shree Khodiyar Engineering Works

We are located in the Vavdi area, specifically at Plot 56. It’s a bit of a trek out here, tucked behind the Tata Motors building on Gondal Road. If you see the big Poonam Dumper place, you are basically there. This is a real industrial zone. There’s no grass or gardens, just dirt and metal and workshops. We do engineering work, which involves a lot of noise and sweat. Our shop floor is usually covered in metal shavings and oil. We have big lathes and welding machines that we use all day. It’s not a place for clean clothes. We all wear overalls that have seen a lot of use. The sun beats down on the roof and makes it like an oven in May. We keep a big water cooler in the corner for everyone. We don't have a fancy reception area. If someone comes to see us, they usually just walk in and wait until we turn off the machines so we can hear them. We build and fix parts for all sorts of local businesses. It’s a hands-on life. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. We just look at the job, figure out how to fix it, and get it done. It’s what we’ve been doing for years and we’re good at it. It is just heavy work with hammers and steel, nothing more and nothing less.
