Sant Enginearing is over in Aji Vasahat-9 here in Rajkot. This is a real working neighborhood. Everywhere you look, there are people moving crates or working on lathes. Our shop is just like the others around here. We have a metal door that stays open all day to let the light in. Inside, it’s mostly machines and the smell of cutting oil. We don't have an office with a desk and chairs; we usually just stand around the workbench to talk. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. The neighbors all know us, and we know them. Sometimes we borrow a tool from the guy next door, and he does the same. It’s a community of makers. We don't have a mission statement or a fancy philosophy. We just come in and do the engineering work that needs doing. Sometimes the work is repetitive, and sometimes it's a real puzzle, but we get through it. We handle everything from small parts to bigger assemblies. We don't have a cleaning crew, so we tidy up ourselves at the end of the day. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s a good one. We are proud of the fact that we can fix things and make things that actually work. If you’re ever in Aji Vasahat, you’ll probably hear our machines hum before you see the sign.
