Phoenix Engineering Works

We're tucked away on Street Number 1 in M.P. Park, right behind the petrol pump on Mavdi Main Road. You can usually hear the sound of the machines before you see the shop. We do a lot of metal work here. Turning, milling, fixing parts that have worn out. It’s greasy work, and our hands are rarely clean. We work with all kinds of local businesses that need parts repaired or something custom made. It’s a lot of measuring twice and cutting once. The shop isn't much to look at, just a concrete floor and a lot of heavy iron. We’ve got some old lathes that still run better than the new ones. My father started this place, and I’ve been working here since I was a teenager. We don't do much advertising; people just know we're behind the pump. It gets hot in the summer with the welding going on, but we keep the doors open to get a breeze from the main road. We handle big jobs and small ones. Sometimes it's just a farmer needing a part fixed for his tractor, other times it's more industrial. We just take it day by day. If something breaks, we try to find a way to make it run again. That’s pretty much what we do all day long. The floor is always stained with oil, and there’s a pile of scrap metal in the corner that never seems to get smaller. It's just how a workshop should be.
