Jyoti Engineering Co.

Jyoti Engineering Co. operates out of 8, Mavdi Plot. It’s a typical engineering setup in Rajkot. The ground is usually covered in iron filings and cooling oil. We have a few lathes and some drilling machines that have been with us for years. The noise is something you just stop hearing after an hour. We make parts for other businesses, mostly small components that go into bigger machines. It’s precision work, but the environment is pretty rough and tumble. We wear old clothes because everything gets stained within ten minutes. Sometimes the power goes out, and we all just sit outside the shed for a bit until it comes back on. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are in Mavdi Plot. We deal with a lot of local guys who need something turned or bored out. There’s a lot of measuring with calipers and then checking it again. The summers are brutal here, so we have a couple of big pedestal fans that mostly just move the hot air around. We eat our lunch together on a wooden bench in the corner. It's simple, honest labor. We don't try to be anything other than a machine shop. We usually stay open until the last job is done, even if it's late. My brother helps with the bookkeeping on a small wooden desk near the entrance. It's been like this for over twenty years.
