Our place is out in Lalpar, down on 8-A in the Morgi area. If you come by, you’ll find us right in the middle of all the other industrial units. It’s a big space because you need a lot of room for the kilns and the long lines where the tiles get made. The air inside is always warm, even in winter, because those ovens never really stop. We spend most of our time checking the edges of the ceramic pieces and making sure the patterns didn't get messed up during the firing. It’s a lot of repetitive work, standing by the belts and watching the tiles go past, but someone has to do it. The trucks are constantly pulling in and out of the yard, loaded down with crates. Sometimes the dust from the raw clay gets everywhere, and we have to sweep the floors twice a day just to keep it manageable. We’ve got a small office at the front where the paperwork happens, but most of us are usually out on the floor. It’s not a quiet job by any means. There’s always the sound of machinery humming and the clinking of finished tiles being stacked. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily production. It’s been this way for years, just a bunch of local guys working the shifts and getting the orders out to whoever needs them. It's a living and we just try to keep things moving.
