Our workshop is out in the Jivraj Industrial Area in Vavdi, Rajkot. If you know the area, we are right opposite Falcon Pump Street. It’s a busy industrial zone, so there is always the sound of machines running and trucks moving through the dirt roads. We spend our days on the shop floor dealing with various engineering tasks. The Plot No. 32 is where all the actual work happens, and it’s usually quite oily and loud. We have been in Vavdi for a while now, and we’ve seen the area change as more small factories move in. Most of our work involves metal, machines, and making sure parts fit together like they are supposed to. It’s not the kind of place where you wear a suit. We are usually covered in some kind of grease by the end of the day. The Rajkot heat can be pretty bad in the afternoons, especially inside a shed with metal roofs, but we are used to it. We just focus on the drawings and the lathes. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to spend the whole night fixing it. There isn't any fancy office here, just a desk with some old ledgers and a lot of tools hanging on the walls. We just keep our heads down and finish the orders that come in. It’s honest work and we like being part of the Rajkot engineering hub. The stray dogs around the area usually wait for scraps near the gate every evening when we close up.
