If you walk down Gondal Road in Rajkot, you’ll find us near the old Octroi point. Bhawati Engineers has been in this spot for a long time. It’s an area full of workshops and small factories, so there’s always the sound of metal hitting metal or machines humming. Our place isn't very big. We have a front area for the machines and a small space in the back that we use as an office. It’s usually quite messy with metal shavings and tools lying around on the benches. We don’t worry about the mess too much as long as the work is getting done. The floor is stained with oil, and the walls are a bit grey from the exhaust and the dust. Rajkot gets very hot in the summer, and the tin roof doesn't help much, but we have a few fans that we keep running all day. We do a lot of manual work here, so our hands are usually dirty by the end of the shift. We don’t have a receptionist or anything like that. If you come in, you just talk to whoever isn't busy with a machine. We get our tea from the stall across the road twice a day. It’s a simple life and a simple business. We don't try to make it look like something it’s not. It’s just an engineering shop where we put in our hours and go home.
