Astron Engineering Works

You can find Astron Engineering Works over in the Aji G I D C area of Rajkot. We operate out of Shed No. C-1/2. It’s a typical industrial shed with high ceilings and plenty of room for our machines. The air usually smells like oil and cut metal, which is how it should be in an engineering shop. We’ve been in Rajkot for quite some time now. Most of our day is spent at the lathes or working on various mechanical parts. It’s noisy work, and we all wear our gear to keep safe. The floor is covered in metal shavings by the end of the day, but we sweep up before we head home. We aren’t a big corporation with a shiny lobby. We just have a small office area for the billing and the rest is all production space. We take on various engineering jobs that come our way. Some are small one-off pieces and others are larger batches. We just look at the drawings and get to work. It’s practical, hands-on stuff. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend a few hours fixing them, but that's part of the trade. We focus on getting the dimensions right and finishing the jobs when we said we would. It’s a steady rhythm here in the GIDC, with all the other workshops around us doing the same. We usually drink our tea standing up near the workbench during the mid-morning break.
