Our place is located out on National Highway 8-A, right in the thick of the industrial belt near Lakhdirpur Road. Being right on the highway means there is always a layer of dust on the office windows and the constant sound of heavy trucks passing by at all hours. We have a very large area here because dealing with ceramic and granite tiles takes up a massive amount of room. The office is right near the front gate, but the real work happens in the back where the kilns and the storage areas are located. It is a big operation with a lot of moving parts, and something is always needing attention, whether it is a machine that needs fixing or a shipping schedule that needs adjusting. We have a lot of workers coming and going in different shifts. It is not the kind of place where you would wear a suit; it is more about wearing sturdy boots and being ready to walk across the dusty yard. The sun gets really intense out here on the open highway, and the heat from the production process does not help much. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of the batches coming off the line to make sure they are okay. There are no fancy mission statements or slogans on the walls, just calendars and production charts. We have been here long enough to know the rhythm of the highway. It is just a big, busy plant doing its daily work.
