Ambuja Cements Ltd

Over here at 29 Jankalyan Society, things stay pretty lively because of all the Rander Road traffic. This part of Surat is always on the move. Ambuja Cements Ltd has this spot in the Planpur Patia area, and it is basically where we spend most of our waking hours. It is not some corporate skyscraper or anything like that. It is just a practical space for work. We have got stacks of cement and a lot of dust, which is just part of the job I suppose. People come in from all over the neighborhood throughout the week. Sometimes it is a neighbor asking for a few bags for a small home repair, and other times it is a much bigger order for a site across the city. We handle the phone calls, talk to the loaders, and try to keep the coffee pot going in the corner. The rhythm is always about the same. Mornings are for unloading the new arrivals, and afternoons are for coordinating the outgoing deliveries. It gets quite loud when the trucks are backing into the narrow space, but we are all used to it by now. We do not have a big marketing team sitting here. It is just a few of us making sure the logistics work out and the numbers match at the end of every shift. Surat is a city that never stops building, so we stay very busy. If the gate is open, we are working.
