Our group, Nilanjay Gramin Farmer Producer Company Limited, works out of Gardan Khedi. You can find us at Nand Ram Dangi’s place. It’s where we keep the records and meet up to talk about the season. We are all local farmers from this area. Pirawa is the main town nearby, but we spend most of our time out here in the fields. Farming is getting harder every year with the costs of everything going up. That’s why we started this producer company. It helps us buy things together so it’s cheaper for everyone. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. We just know our soil and what grows best in this part of the country. Sometimes we have meetings under the trees when the weather is nice. We talk about the crops, the pests, and who has a spare tool to lend. It's a community effort more than a business. We all have our own farms but we share the burden of the paperwork. Sometimes the office stuff gets confusing, but we help each other out. We just want to make sure our families are fed and the land stays healthy for the next generation. It’s a simple life here in Gardan Khedi, and we like it that way even when the work is heavy. Most days you’ll find us busy with the crops, and that’s just how we like to spend our time. It’s about the soil and the season for us.
