Sahyogi Mitra Farmer Producer Company Limited is based at House Number 267 in Ward 37, also known as Azad Ward. The name "Sahyogi Mitra" means we are supposed to be helpful friends to one another, and that’s really how we try to run things. We are a group of farmers who realized that we could do a lot more if we pooled our resources. Our office is just a regular house in the ward. You won't find any marble floors or air-conditioned lobbies here. Usually, there are a few sacks of seeds in the corner and some farmers sitting around talking about the latest government schemes or the price of diesel. It’s a place where you can come and get some honest advice or help with your paperwork. We try to look out for each other. If one person is having a hard time with their harvest, the rest of us try to step in. It’s about more than just business; it’s about the community in Azad Ward. We spend our days coordinating between the members and the markets. It’s a lot of phone calls and ledger entries. We aren't professionals with degrees in business management. We are just people who know how to grow things and want to make sure we get a fair price for it. It’s a simple life, and we like it that way. We just keep working together to keep the farm life going. It is a long journey but we are in it together for the long haul.
