Agarwal Rice Mill

Agarwal Rice Mill is located on Ring Road 2 in Tatibandh, which is part of the Raipur district. We are right near the Ayyapa Mandir, so we often hear the bells and the sounds from the temple during the day. It is a busy stretch of road, with plenty of dust and big vehicles moving grain and other goods across the state. The smell of rice is everywhere here, especially when the machines are running full tilt. We have been at this location for a long time, and the building has aged along with us. There are cracks in the pavement and the paint is peeling in some spots, but it does not affect the quality of what we do inside. Our office is a small room with a loud fan that barely keeps the heat away during the summer months. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to the farmers who come by with their loads. It is a very practical environment, with no room for anything that is not necessary for the job. We eat our lunch together most days, usually talking about the weather or how the harvest is looking this year. It is a simple life centered around the mill and the road outside. We just keep our heads down and focus on the daily tasks.
