Dudhnadi Krishak Producer Company Limited

Our group is out in Byaskongra, which is part of the Kanker district here in Chhattisgarh. Specifically, we are at number 45. This company is owned by the farmers themselves, which is a bit different from how things usually go. We spend most of our time out in the fields or meeting at the small office in Kankerdevkongera. It’s a lot of work coordinating everyone since there are so many of us involved in the collective. We mostly deal with what the local land gives us. Some days are spent worrying about the rain, and other days we are just trying to fix a broken tractor or figure out where to store the extra grain. Being in a place like Kanker, we are a bit far from the big cities, so we have to rely on each other. We don't have a marketing team or anyone writing fancy slogans for us. We just talk about what we need for the next season and how to get a fair price for what we grow. People around here know us because we live right next door to them. We share the same problems and the same successes. Sometimes the meetings go on for way too long because everyone wants their say, but that is just how a producer company works. It is noisy and sometimes messy, but it is ours. We focus on the daily tasks and try to make sure nobody gets left behind in the process.
