You can find our group, Abhi Lal Dargechak, in Village Bishunpura, which is near Pratappur in the Rampur area. Nagendra Kumar Yadav is the person who keeps everything running from his place. It is a very rural area, so everything happens at a much slower pace than it does in the big city. We are a group of farmers who wanted to see if we could do a bit better by working together as one unit. We grow a bit of everything here. The soil in Bishunpura is decent, but you really have to know how to treat it right or nothing will grow. We spend a lot of time discussing which fertilizers to buy and how to share the costs of the equipment we need. It is not always a smooth process. Sometimes the tractor breaks down and we all have to chip in some money to get it fixed. We don't have any professional writers to do our descriptions, so this is just us talking. The office is just a simple room with a fan and some chairs. We meet there in the evenings after the sun goes down and the heavy work is finally done. It’s a lot of long hours and very little sleep during the harvest time. We aren't looking to become famous or big. We just want to farm our land and get a fair price. That is the whole reason we started this.
