Alibag is where I have spent most of my life. My place is over at Uti Naka in the Modi Wada area. It is a bit of a local hub, especially with the transport and the people coming in from the nearby villages. Raigad district has a specific rhythm to it, especially being so close to the coast. My setup is simple and honest. I am not trying to be a big businessman with a suit and tie. Most days you will find me in a plain shirt just handling whatever comes my way. The office is right there on the ground level, easy for anyone to walk into. We get a lot of salt air because of the sea, which sometimes makes the metal parts of the furniture rust a bit, but that is just Alibag for you. People stop by to chat about the local news as much as they do for work. I have been in this spot for years and I know almost every face that passes by. It is a small-town way of doing things where your word matters more than a signed contract. I handle the paperwork and the daily grind without complaining. It is a good life, being close to home and working among people you have known since you were a kid. Nothing fancy, just me, Amit, doing what needs to be done to keep things moving.
