Purnia Matsya Kisan Producer Company Limited is located in Raghunathpur, specifically near the post office in Durgapur, Purnia. We are a group of fish farmers who decided to pool our resources together. Purnia has a lot of water and a lot of potential for this kind of work, so it made sense to form a producer company. Most of our members spend their time at the ponds rather than in the office. The office itself is quite basic and is just a place to store our papers and meet once in a while to talk about fish seeds or the cost of feed. We don't have any fancy signs or big advertisements. Most people find out about us just by talking to their neighbors in the village. It is a slow process to build something like this but we are taking it one step at a time. The heat can be tough during the summer months and that affects the water levels, so we spend a lot of time worrying about that. We are just regular guys who know a lot about fish and wanted to find a way to make the business side of things a little bit easier for everyone involved. Sometimes we make mistakes with the scheduling but we always try to fix it. Our goal is just to keep the ponds healthy and the fish moving to the markets so we can support our families here in Raghunathpur.
