Banmankhi Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited is based over in Panchbishnupur Dutt, in the Banmankhi area of Purnia. You can find us at Anil Gupta’s place; he’s the son of Sitaram Bhagat. This part of Purnia is known for its farming, and we’re just a small part of that tradition. We’re a bunch of local growers who decided that we should probably start working together instead of everyone doing their own thing. It’s not easy being a farmer these days. Between the costs of everything and the way the market jumps around, it can be pretty stressful. We meet up and talk about what we’re seeing in our fields. Maybe someone found a better way to deal with a certain pest, or someone else heard about a new way to get the harvest to the buyers. It’s all very casual. We’re just neighbors who trust each other. We don't have any corporate polish or fancy speeches. We just want to make sure we can keep our farms running and provide for our families. The land here means a lot to us, and we want to take care of it as a group. By pooling our resources and our knowledge, we feel like we have a better chance of making it. It’s just us, the people of Banmankhi, trying to do right by each other and the soil we work on every day.
