Site Engineer

Being out here in Durgapur, specifically in D.P.L Colony, the air always feels a bit heavy with the industrial work going on. My home and office is Qr. No E1-41/A. It’s in a decent part of the colony, quite handy for getting to sites around Burdwan district. As a Site Engineer, my life revolves around the progress of the projects I’m looking after. I spend a lot of time traveling between the different locations, sometimes spending hours on the road. The humidity in West Bengal can be a real pain when you’re standing out in an open field all day. I usually come back to the colony late in the evening, covered in dust and tired. My desk is always a mess of receipts, site reports, and half-finished tea. It’s a practical setup, mostly just a place to store my levels, tapes, and hard hats. I don’t go in for fancy presentations. I’d rather show someone what’s wrong with a pillar in person than send a polished report. People in the colony know what I do, so I often get asked for advice on small repairs. Durgapur-2 is a hardworking area, and I try to match that energy. I’ve been in this district long enough to know how the local soil behaves during the monsoon, which is more important than any textbook stuff. It’s a quiet life when I’m not at work, just resting up for the next day's site visit.
