We are out here in Durgapur, in the Burdwan district of West Bengal. Most people know this as a big industrial hub, and our office is right in the thick of it. Being part of the ECCD wing, we are usually dealing with the heavy lifting of construction and engineering logistics. The area is full of steel plants and big factories, so there is always a layer of industrial dust and the sound of heavy trucks in the distance. Our office is a functional space designed for work, not for showing off. We have a lot of old-fashioned ledgers and some newer computers that we use to keep the projects moving. The weather here can be quite extreme, with heavy rains in the monsoon that sometimes make the roads a bit of a mess. We just put on our boots and get on with it. We don't have a marketing department writing this for us; it’s just the staff here in the office. We spend our days tracking shipments, talking to contractors, and making sure the site requirements are met. It’s a busy, sometimes chaotic environment, but we have a good system going. People here are straightforward and don't have time for much small talk. We just want to make sure the work gets done right and on time. That is what matters in a place like Durgapur.
