Mankar College

We are out here in Kajirhat, right in the Burdwan area. Mankar College has been a part of this landscape for quite some time now. You see students walking down the local roads every morning, carrying their books and talking about their upcoming exams. It gets pretty lively when the classes are in session and everyone is moving between the buildings. The campus is just a regular place, nothing too fancy, but it serves the folks around this part of West Bengal well. We have big trees around and the air is different from the big cities. Sometimes the power goes out, or the hallways get a bit dusty when the wind blows, but that is just how things are in our corner of the world. We have classrooms that have seen many different faces over the years. The staff knows most of the locals by name. It is not just about the studying; it is where people meet up and grow up a bit before they move on to whatever job or life comes next. Most days are quiet until the bell rings. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place running, fixing chairs, or making sure the main gate is locked up at night. It is a slow pace of life compared to places like Kolkata, but we like it that way. You can hear the birds in the afternoon when everyone is inside. It is just our local college, doing what it does every day for the community here in Kajirhat.
