This is Z. V. M. Unani Medical College and Hospital. You can find us right at Gate No. 4 of the Azam Campus, just off Shankar Shet Road. It’s a big campus and there’s always something going on with students running around and patients coming into the hospital side of things. We’ve been part of this community for a long time. The building is older and has that solid feel to it. Working here means dealing with a lot of different people every single day. We have the medical college side where the learning happens and then the hospital where we actually see people who need help. It’s a busy environment. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy with all the traffic on Shankar Shet Road, but once you get inside the gates, it settles down a little bit. We focus on Unani medicine here, which is a traditional way of doing things that has been around forever. It’s not like a modern glass office building. It’s got character and history. I walk through those gates every morning and see the same faces at the tea stalls nearby. It feels like a small village inside the city. The hallways are long and have that specific hospital smell, but everyone knows their way around. We just keep the doors open and keep the work moving. There’s a lot of responsibility in running a place like this, but we just take it day by day. Every day is a little different here.
