Yashodhan Pan Shop

We are located at the junction of Wakad and Karve Road. It is a place that stays busy almost all the time because of how many people use these roads to get across town. Our shop is just a small unit on the side of the road. We spend our hours standing behind the counter, mostly watching the cars and bikes zoom past. It’s a lot of manual work, getting the ingredients ready and keeping everything fresh. We don't have many employees, just us taking turns to stay at the shop. The noise from Karve Road is something you just get used to after a week. We serve anyone who pulls over, from college kids to older men who have been coming here for years. The shop isn't anything special to look at, just a regular place with some shelves and a few jars. We keep a small radio going sometimes to pass the time when it’s quiet. Dealing with the summer heat is probably the hardest part, as the shop gets quite warm by the afternoon. We focus on just getting the orders right and keeping the area around the shop clear of trash. It’s a basic way to make a living, but we like being out here where we can see everything that’s happening in Wakad. We stay open until the traffic thins out late at night, then we pack up and do it all again tomorrow. It is just life here.
