Yash Mini Market is situated at 130 B in Shaniwar Peth, right in the heart of Pune. If you know Shaniwar Peth, you know how the lanes can be. Our shop is one of those places where we try to fit a whole supermarket's worth of items into a much smaller space. We have rows of snacks, cleaning supplies, and all the cooking essentials people look for. The building is older, which is typical for this part of Pune, but we keep the inside as neat as we can. It’s a lot of work hauling boxes in and out through the narrow entrance, especially when the delivery trucks can't get too close. We start the day by setting out the fresh bread and milk packets near the front so people can grab them quickly on their way to work. During the Ganpati festival, the whole area gets incredibly crowded and we stay open even longer than usual. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are inside at once, but we make it work. We don't have fancy barcodes; we just know the prices of everything by heart. It is a steady life, dealing with the local residents and the students who live nearby. We just aim to have the basic things ready on the shelves every day for whoever walks through the door. It is just a small local shop in Pune.
