If you go down Bhandarkar Road and look for number 872, you will see our place. We called it World Tech, but it’s mostly just a spot where we work on computers and sell some peripherals. The front window is usually full of boxes from printers or monitors that we just got in. Inside, it smells a bit like solder and warm plastic because we are always testing something in the back. The workbench is piled high with motherboards and tangled power cords, but I know exactly where my favorite pliers are hidden. Bhandarkar Road is a nice part of town with a lot of trees, so the view from the front door is actually quite pleasant. We have a few regular customers who come in every time their laptop starts acting slow. We don't use any fancy diagnostic machines, just our own experience from doing this for ten years. Sometimes we have to tell people that their computer is too old to fix, which is never fun to say. My sister handles the accounts and keeps the shelves looking somewhat tidy, otherwise the whole place would be a mess of cables. We aren't trying to be the biggest tech shop around, we just like fixing things and helping people get back to their work. It’s a steady job and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down.
