Vivek General Store

Vivek General Store is over in Hadapsar on Ambedkar Road, and we also have another location at Hebbagodi on Hosur Main Road, at numbers 48 and 49. Having two spots keeps us fairly busy, as we are always moving between them to make sure things are running okay. It’s a simple name for a simple business. We sell the things most people need for their houses, like shampoo, toothpaste, various grains, and some packaged snacks. Both shops can get a bit cramped with boxes because we don't have a lot of extra storage space in the back. I am usually at one of the stores while my cousin looks after the other. We are constantly on the phone with each other to see who is running low on what. The traffic on Hosur Main Road can be quite a nightmare, so our supply trucks often get stuck for a long time. We just have to wait for them. It’s not a fancy place with air conditioning or anything like that. We just have some basic fans and sturdy shelves. People come in for their weekly grocery run or just for one thing they forgot. We try to be helpful and find what they need. The days are long and it’s hard work, but we have been doing this for a long time now. It’s just a regular local business, nothing more and nothing less. We just keep the lights on and the shelves filled.
