Vijay Catering

We are tucked away in Rasta Peth, specifically over at Sneh Society. Vijay Catering has been part of this neighborhood for a bit, and we’ve gotten used to the way things work around here. Our kitchen isn't anything like what you see on TV shows. It’s a practical space with big gas burners and stacks of stainless steel tiffins piled high against the walls. We spend most of our hours prepping for local events and family gatherings. The streets around Rasta Peth are narrow, so getting our delivery vans in and out can be a bit of a challenge some days. You’ll often find us sitting on small stools, sorting through lentils or cleaning greens while we chat about the news. It’s a very local operation, and we don't bother much with polished presentations or corporate talk. We just focus on the recipes we’ve been using for years. Sometimes the kitchen gets incredibly loud with everyone talking at once over the sound of the exhaust fans. It can be exhausting to stand for ten hours straight, especially when the orders are piling up, but it’s what we know how to do. We take pride in the fact that our neighbors in Sneh Society know us by name. There’s a certain comfort in the routine of the kitchen, even when it’s chaotic and the floor is slippery. We just keep cooking and moving on to the next day and the next event on the list. We hope the food we make brings some comfort to the people who eat it.
