Down on Paud Road in Kothrud, that’s where you’ll find Vijay Battery Charging Centre. The address is 14 97/8/1, which can be hard for some people to find if they aren't from around here. We’ve been in this little spot for quite some time now. Charging batteries isn't the most glamorous job, but it's what we do every day. We have rows of chargers lined up against the wall, humming away all day long. The shop isn't very big, so things get a bit tight when we have a lot of work in at once. We mostly deal with local folks who need their car or inverter batteries topped up. Sometimes they come in pretty frustrated because their car wouldn't start in the morning, so we just do our best to get them sorted out. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, moving those big lead blocks around. My hands are usually covered in some kind of dirt or acid by noon. We take a lunch break when things quiet down, usually just something brought from home in a tiffin. Kothrud has changed a lot since we started, with all the new shops and the heavy traffic, but we just stay here doing the same thing. It’s a steady pace, and we like it that way. No need for anything fancy when the chargers are working fine and the customers are happy.
