The shop floor here at Chikhlee Kudalwadi Pawarwasti 765 is always full of heavy metal and copper wire. Amar Transformers Pvt Ltd is basically a big shed where we handle a lot of electrical equipment. There is a lot of heavy lifting involved and the cranes are usually moving things around most of the morning. It smells like oil and hot metal most of the time. We have been in this part of Chikhlee for some years. The road outside is dusty and there are plenty of other industrial units nearby. Inside, the noise of winding machines is pretty constant. We do not have much of an office, just a small cabin with a desk and some old files. Most of our day is spent checking coils and making sure the tanks are sealed right. It is tiring work and your hands get dirty within the first ten minutes of starting. We have a small crew and everyone knows what they are supposed to do. Sometimes we stay late when there is a big load to finish. Lunch is usually eaten quick on one of the benches. There are no posters about goals or anything, just a list of safety rules on the wall. We just focus on getting the units ready for the trucks that come to pick them up. It is a practical business. We deal with high voltage stuff every day so we stay focused on the task at hand.
