Down on Telco Road in the M.I.D.C. area of Chinchwad, things are always moving. Our shop, Vaibhav V Joshi Fabrication Contractor, sits in G Block, not too far from the railway road. You can hear the trains passing by while we are working with the welding machines and the grinders. It is a noisy spot, but it suits us. Fabrication is hard work that leaves you tired at the end of the shift. We are usually covered in dust or iron filings by lunchtime. The area is purely industrial, so there are shops like ours everywhere you look. We don't have a receptionist or a lobby. If you come by, you will likely find us out on the floor with a helmet on or looking over some drawings on a wooden table. We have been doing this for years, and the routine hasn't changed much. We get the raw materials in, we cut and weld, and we send the finished parts out. Sometimes the heat in the shed gets a bit much during the summer, but we just keep the fans going and push through. It is a very direct way of working. No corporate talk, no polished presentations, just the sound of metal hitting metal and the smell of ozone from the welding. We know the guys in the neighboring plots, and we all just try to get through the work week without too much trouble.
