Uttam Metal

The shop is out in the MIDC area of Chinchwad, specifically in G Block on Chikhali Road. It’s a very industrial part of town, so there is always the sound of machines and trucks passing by. We handle a lot of metal scrap and new metal pieces too. The yard is filled with stacks of iron and steel that have been sitting there for a while. It’s a gritty place, and your hands get black from the metal dust within five minutes of starting work. We have a small cabin made of metal sheets where we sit to do the accounts. It gets very hot in there during the afternoon sun. We use a big scale to weigh everything that comes in and goes out. The guys working here are used to the heavy lifting, but it’s still tough work at the end of the day. There’s a tea stall just down the road where we go when we need a break from the noise. We deal with a lot of factory owners and small workshop guys who need materials for their projects. The entrance is wide enough for a truck to back in, which happens a few times a day. We do not bother with fancy displays or anything like that. People come here because they know we have what they need in the piles. It’s honest, hard work, and the day usually ends when the sun goes down and the industrial area starts to quiet down.
