Uttam Metal Corporation

We are located at No. 1642 in Shukrawar Peth, right by Nehru Chowk. If you’ve ever been to this part of Pune, you know how busy it gets. It’s a real hub for trade and there’s always something happening. Our place is basically a big warehouse and office mixed into one. We deal with metal supplies, so there’s a lot of iron and steel around. It’s heavy and noisy work. We spend most of our time taking orders over the phone or helping people who drive their trucks right up to the front. Nehru Chowk is usually jammed with traffic, so we have to be quick when unloading. The shop is nothing fancy to look at. It has high ceilings and metal racks everywhere. We’ve been here for a good number of years now. We know the other guys on the street, the ones selling hardware or tools. Sometimes we sit out front on a stool when it’s quiet, but that doesn’t happen often. The air smells like metal and oil here. It’s a tough business but it’s what we know. We don’t bother with much advertising because people know where to find us. We just focus on getting the right pieces to the right people. It’s a lot of measuring and cutting and moving heavy stuff. That’s just a normal day for us. We just keep the business running as best as we can every day.
