Utkarsha Mini Market

Utkarsha Mini Market is located right in the middle of Sadashiv Peth at Pournima Apt, number 1417. Being on Renuka Swaroop High School Road means we have a lot of activity throughout the day. The school kids are always running past, and then we have the college students from S P College which is just nearby. It is a classic Pune neighborhood, a bit traditional and very busy. I usually get here early to set things up before the first school bell rings. The shop is full of all kinds of things people need for their homes like cooking oil, spices, some stationery, and plenty of snacks. I have lived in this area for years, so I know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. We do not have those fancy scanners or bright neon lights. It is just a simple counter and shelves that we have had for many years. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty with all the traffic on the road, so we are constantly wiping things down. The afternoons are usually a bit quieter when everyone is taking their break, so that is when I sit and do the accounts in a big paper register. It is a lot of manual work, lifting crates and moving jars around, but that is just how it is. We try to keep the staples like sugar and wheat flour always ready in different weights so people do not have to wait. There is usually a stray cat that hangs around outside the door near the steps.
