If you head down Sinhgad Road and turn into Vishranti Nagar in Hinge Khurd, you’ll find us. Usha Tele Systems isn't hard to spot if you’re looking for the small shop with all the wires and spare parts. We spend most of our time looking at circuit boards or talking to people about their phone lines. The shop is a bit small, and we’ve definitely outgrown the space, but it works for now. There are boxes of cables tucked under every table and the shelves are stuffed with old manuals. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. Usually, it’s just one or two of us here at the counter. The fan on the ceiling makes a clicking noise that we’ve stopped noticing after all these years. Sinhgad Road is always loud with the buses going by, but Vishranti Nagar is a little quieter. We get a lot of people walking in just to ask questions about their setups. Sometimes we have to go out on site, which means closing the shop for an hour or so. We just put a hand-written note on the door. It’s not the most professional way to do things, but people around here understand how we work. We’ve been handling tele systems for a while, so we know our way around the hardware. It's mostly about keeping things running. We eat our lunch in the back room and try to keep the dust off the equipment. It’s a decent life, just keeping the phones working one wire at a time.
