Ujwal General Stores

Our little shop, Ujwal General Stores, is tucked into Narayan Peth at Khetwadi 310/6. It’s one of those narrow buildings you find in this part of the city. Inside, we have everything from notebooks and pens to pulses and cleaning supplies. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling, and I usually need a stool to reach the stuff at the top. It’s a quiet routine for the most part. I open up early in the morning and start by cleaning the front step. Narayan Peth has a lot of history and old buildings, so it feels very traditional around here. We get a lot of students from nearby and older folks who have lived in Khetwadi for decades. They come in for their daily essentials and stay for a few minutes to talk about the weather or local news. The space is a bit cramped, especially when we get a fresh delivery of boxes that need to be unpacked. I try to keep things organized, but it’s hard when you have hundreds of different items in such a small area. We have a small bulb hanging over the counter that flickers sometimes. It’s just a local general store, nothing more. We don't do any big promotions. People just know we are here at 310/6 if they run out of salt or need a new lightbulb. It’s been our way of life for many years now.
