The Machan

Our spot is called The Machan and you'll find us out in Village Jambulne. If you're coming from Lonavala, it's roughly 8 kilometers before you hit the Sahara Aambey Valley area. We know it's a bit of a trek for some, but that’s exactly why we like it out here. It’s a lot quieter than the main town. The air is different, though the weather can be a bit of a challenge. During the monsoon, the rain is heavy and everything gets very green, but it also means we have a lot of maintenance to do. We spend a lot of our time outdoors, checking on the grounds and making sure the paths are clear. It’s a lot of physical work, and our hands are usually dirty by the end of the day. We don't have a corporate structure or anything like that. It’s just a small group of us keeping the place running. Sometimes the roads are a bit rough, and getting supplies can be a chore, but we manage. We don't offer the kind of polished service you’d find in a city hotel. Things are a bit more relaxed here, and we take our time. If the power goes out, we just wait for the generator to kick in. We’ve seen the landscape change over the years as more people discover this part of Lonavala. We try to keep our corner of it as simple as possible. It’s a lot of work to keep a place like this going.
