Tata Steel Processing Distribution Ltd.

Our facility is located at Post Box No. 7, B-18 in the MIDC Growth Center in Ranjangaon, which is part of Tal Shirur. It is quite a long way out for some of us, but we’ve gotten used to the commute. The site is huge, as you would expect for a place dealing with steel processing. There are massive sheds where the steel is stored and worked on. You can hear the cranes moving and the metal clanging from quite a distance away. It’s a very industrial atmosphere, with safety boots and helmets being a mandatory part of our daily outfit. The office part of the building is functional but basic. We have rows of desks and a lot of filing cabinets for all the distribution paperwork. It’s a busy place with trucks coming in and out at all hours. We have to keep a close eye on the schedules because things can get backed up pretty quickly at the loading bays. The air feels different out here in Ranjangaon, more open but also full of the smells of grease and heavy machinery. We have a small canteen where we grab some food and talk about the day's work. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure the numbers match up. We aren't trying to be fancy; we just focus on the logistics and the steel. It's a lot of manual tracking and moving things around.
