Tarvinder Watch Company

Tarvinder Watch Company is right in the middle of Budhwar Peth at 610, just opposite the Sai Baba Mandir. Being on Maninagar Cross Road in the Mahalakshmi Market means it is always incredibly busy outside. There are people selling all sorts of things, and the noise of the temple bells and the market vendors is constant. Inside our shop, it’s a bit more cramped because we have so many clocks and watches squeezed into a small space. We have been here for years, serving the people who come to the market. It’s a lot of work just keeping the dust off the displays because of all the traffic outside. We spend our days hunched over the counter, working on everything from expensive brands to the cheap ones you buy on the street. People come in while they are doing their shopping, leave a watch, and come back an hour later. It’s a very fast-paced area, but the work we do requires us to slow down. We have a small fan that hums in the corner to keep us cool, and we usually have a radio playing low in the background. It’s a local business through and through. We know the other shopkeepers in the market, and we all look out for each other. It’s just how things are done here in Budhwar Peth. Most of the time we have a backlog of work but we get through it.
