Tanish General Stores

Tanish General Stores is tucked away in the Ryewood Park area of Lonavala. We are near Lal Tak and not too far from the Tata Dam. Being in a place like Lonavala, we get a mix of people. Some are just passing through to see the sights, while others have lived here their whole lives. The air is often a bit damp because of the hills, so we have to make sure nothing gets ruined by the moisture. The store itself is quite simple. We have wooden counters and shelves that we built ourselves a long time ago. It’s not the most modern looking place, but it works for what we need. I usually spend the mornings cleaning the glass jars and counting the stock. When the fog rolls in, it gets very quiet around here. We carry the basic things that families need so they don't have to drive into the busier parts of town. It’s a peaceful spot mostly. Sometimes we get groups of hikers looking for water or snacks before they head towards the dam. We don't do any advertising. Word of mouth is how most people find us. It’s just a small family-run business. We keep things moving and try to be helpful when someone can't find what they are looking for on the shelves.
