Syntel Ltd

Syntel Ltd is run by Ashutosh Nigam, and we are based out of E/54 Khapra Mohal in the Kanpur Cantonment area. Kanpur is a gritty, busy city, and the Cantt area is a bit more orderly than the rest of it, but it still has that local character. The office is really just a functional space where we handle our business affairs. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find plush carpets or modern art. We have some metal cupboards for filing and desks that have been around for years. Ashutosh is usually around if there’s a problem that needs fixing. We spend our days dealing with various software and technical issues, and it’s a lot of staring at screens and typing. The monkeys sometimes get onto the roof and make a lot of noise, which can be distracting during meetings, but you get used to it after a while. We don't really have a big staff, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything, from answering the door to fixing the printer. It’s an honest way to work, and we don't feel the need to pretend we are bigger than we are. People in the neighborhood know us, and we like the fact that we can just be ourselves here. It’s just a normal workplace with normal people doing what they can to stay busy and pay the bills.
