We are located in the 411040 area of Pune, which is a bit of a trek for some of us depending on where we live. This part of Maharashtra has grown so much in the last few years. You used to see open fields, but now it’s all big buildings and glass. Our office at IBM India is just one of those places where you walk in, tap your card, and start the day. The air conditioning is always a bit too cold, so most of us keep a sweater at our desks even in the summer. We spend a lot of time in meetings or just typing away. It’s not very exciting to describe, but it’s our daily reality. Lunchtime is when things liven up a bit, and we usually sit together and talk about anything except work. The traffic in Pune is something else, especially when everyone is trying to leave at the same time in the evening. You just learn to be patient and listen to the radio or some music. The office doesn’t have much in the way of decoration, just the usual desks and chairs you’d expect. It’s a practical space for practical work. We’ve got a view of the city from the higher floors, which is nice when the sun goes down and the lights come on. Most of the time we are just focused on the tasks at hand and getting through the week.
