We spend most of our time here at the workshop on Lamington Road. It gets pretty loud once the machines start running in the morning. Sycamore Metalcraft has been around for a while now, just doing what we do with metal. Some days it’s mostly custom orders and other days we are just prepping material for someone else's project. The space in Warje is usually cluttered with offcuts and tools, but we know where everything is. Most of us have been working with our hands for years so we don't think much of the heat or the sparks anymore. It’s just part of the job. People come by asking if we can weld this or cut that, and usually, we can figure it out. We aren't a fancy office, just a bunch of guys in shop clothes. There is always tea around somewhere if the machine isn't running. We don't really do big advertising because most folks just find us by walking in or knowing someone we worked for before. It’s simple work, really. You take a piece of metal and you turn it into what the drawing says. Some days are long, especially when a machine acts up or a delivery is late, but that’s how it goes in this part of town. We just keep the doors open and stay busy with whatever comes in next. It is hard work but it keeps us going every day without much fuss.
