Swagat Sansar

I usually get here around nine in the morning. The first thing is to clean the counter. You can see the traffic moving towards Lalbaug from the front door of Shop No 1. It’s noisy but you get used to it after a few weeks. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint maybe next year. We have a small plastic stool for guests to sit on. Most people who come in live right here in Sasane Nagar or just down the street in the other blocks. It’s a quiet life mostly. We handle the daily stuff and try to keep things moving. There isn’t much to say other than we are here every day except Sundays. The light in the back is a bit dim so we use a desk lamp for the ledger. The floor is that old grey tile. It’s easy to sweep though. We have a small drawer for the keys and some old newspapers stacked in the corner. That’s just how it is here at Swagat Sansar. The shop is on the ground floor of Shilpa Apartment. Sasane Nagar gets quite busy in the evenings when everyone gets back from work. The shop has been here for a while now. We don't do anything complicated. There is an old clock above the door that ticks quite loud. We usually close up around eight. It is a simple routine for us. The shelves are packed but we know where everything is.
