Sheetal Arts

Over at Raviwar Peth Ganeshkhind Road, Shivaji Nagar, you will find Sheetal Arts. It is a place that always smells a little bit like oil paint and wood shavings. We have been working out of this space for a while, and it has definitely taken on a personality of its own. The walls are covered with bits of frames and different types of paper samples. Because we are near Ganeshkhind Road, the sound of traffic is constant, but once you get inside and start working on a project, you kind of stop hearing the horns. We spend a lot of our time measuring things out and making sure edges are straight. It is hands-on work that leaves our fingers stained with ink or paint by the end of the day. Shivaji Nagar is a busy area, so we get a real mix of people coming through the door. Some are students from the nearby colleges looking for specific supplies, and others are older folks who have lived in the neighborhood forever. We have a couple of old ceiling fans that squeak a bit as they turn, but they keep the air moving. Our workbench is scarred from years of use, but we would not trade it for a new one. It is just a local shop where we focus on the task at hand. We like the creative mess that comes with what we do here. There is always something new to look at or fix up.
